Canals aren’t all about the architecture, and the mechanics of travelling through rocky terrain, centres of industry, and up and down hills.
Canals are steeped in the landscape, giving glimpses of an abundance of wildlife and the glories of nature not possible elsewhere.
Flora: usual suspects – and surprises
Fauna: in fields and by banks; water fowl and opportunists
Canal cruising is long on nature watching and photo opportunities; short on hard work.
