What is it worth, this planet Earth?

Is Earth worth saving,
sweating and slaving
carving new paths out from rampage and tillage
slicing new routes through destruction and pillage?
Is Earth worth saving
when it means waving
farewell to life’s ease, to earned comforts and powers
just for the sake of some fields, a few flowers?
Can man-fashioned loss nourish air-giving trees?
Will wailing of sirens be silenced by bees
buzzing their forage with brisk beating wing,
life-giving, yellow gold, pollen-rich king?
Apathy comes easy
neglect’s no big deal.
Earth’s bounty defiled with passion and zeal.
Damage we wreaked without thought for the aim,
make amends, take the shame, survival’s no game.
